Along with the enough rest, pregnancy is the time to eat better and stay healthy. Make healthy choices and eat the right amount. A pregnant woman should not eat for two, but she needs extra calories. Take in food rich in nutrients and stay out of fatigue. Proper supply of nutrition also makes your hormonal action better.
Another major reason for the mood swings during pregnancy is the stress or anxiety. You may feel worried about the pregnancy, health of the baby and the child birth. Get some support from your partner and spend time together. Share the feelings, worries, and anxieties. Take some time to go out to a dinner or a short vacation. Relieve your stress through Yoga or meditation.
Normally, the frequent mood patterns will not stay for longer. May be one or two days or a week, and it disappears. It may come again after some while but won’t last long at a time. So, if the mood swings become intense, it should get medical attention. Such mood swings with extreme emotions or longer emotions may be the symptoms of depression. Depression during pregnancy also paves the way for post-partum depression.
Some symptoms that indicate depression includes:

- Feeling down or upset for more than two weeks
- Short-term memory loss
- Inability to concentrate on anything
Many symptoms may appear during the pregnancy terms, but if the emotions stay longer and affect the mother, it is risky and needs medical help. Take help from your partner and a counselor to deal with such situations.
