Eddie Redmayne and Hannah Bagshawe are at their happiest.
The couple got married in a very private ceremony in December 2014 just a month before Redmayne won an Oscar for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.
A happy marriage has two individuals who are committed to bringing out the best in each other. It is true that adjustment is the best formula for a happy married life. Remember it is not adjustment for the sake of adjustment – it is for a greater purpose, that is, to develop a common environment in which it will be possible to attain the real goal of married life.
In a recent interview with Daily Telegraph, the 34-year-old Danish Girl star described his PR executive wife, also 34, as ‘an absolute wonder’ who played a ‘massive part’ in his successful acting career.
Redmayne said that his wife gave up her work as a successful antique dealer just to take care of him.
The actor also said “Working for her old boss, it used to complicate things if we had to go to LA for the day; it is wonderful she can now travel all the time.”
The Oscar winner recently discussed impending parenthood with E! News. He said that he was stunned about how much preparation it needs ahead of the baby’s arrival.
“We started looking at logistics of all the things we need before we get to the hospital – and it’s a long list,” he said.
Despite his great success in recent years, Redmayne is adamant he will take a break from work upon the arrival of the couple’s first child in June.
How did the Couple Meet Each Other?
Eddie attended Eton College, an English boys’ independent boarding school, the same year as Prince William, and met Hannah Bagshawe at a neighboring girl’s boarding school. Hannah and some classmates had organized a fashion show for charity, and Redmayne volunteered to walk the runway. Topless.
Redmayne told Daily Mail, “I was this pasty, freckly guy and when I came on the girls in the audience didn’t take much notice of me, but I was followed by the best-looking boy in the school and all the girls erupted in cheers, which was emotionally scarring!”
Someone did take notice, however, and Redmayne and Hannah started a 12-year-long friendship that eventually turned into a successful romantic relationship.
Redmayne has been dating Hannah Bagshawe since 2012; they got engaged over Memorial Day Weekend in June 2014.
Bagshawe was born in London to parents Nicholas Bagshawe and Caryl Bagshawe. She holds a post-graduate degree in English Literature and French from The University of Edinburgh. Bagshawe served аѕ Global Head оf Public Relations оf Mergermarket Ltd and Communications Europe fоr Mergermarket Ltd. Shе worked with many investment banks including Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse аnd Societe Generale bеfоrе joining MergerMarket Ltd in August 2006.
Bagshawe Was Late to the Wedding
Redmayne told Ellen DeGeneres that his love was late to their marriage – a move that did not shock him.
“My wife — it sounds so amazing just after you get married, even the terms sound new — she has never been on time for anything in her life,” the actor said. “She was a good half-hour late. Her grandfather had to be sort of held back from going and summoning her. Everyone else was really stressed, but I was kind of relaxed knowing that she’d never been on time for pretty much anything in her life.”
The actor told DeGeneres that he took extra precautions to account for Bagshawe’s expected tardiness on the big day.
“My job was to find the venue, and I made sure I found the place where we were having the reception was next to the chapel,” Redmayne said.
‘The Danish Girl’
This year, Redmayne secured his Oscar nomination for his role as a transgender artist in The Danish Girl. The London-born star will compete with Leonardo DiCaprio, who received a nod for The Revenant and Irish actor Michael Fassbender for Steve Jobs.
If he wins again this year, Redmayne will be the sixth actor in Oscar history to take home back-to-back trophies. However, some sources say that Redmayne is in third place to win the coveted award.
